How the Planning System Works
- Applicant applies to East Riding Of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) for planning permission if needed.
- The Parish Council are consulted on applications by ERYC and posters are displayed in the immediate area.
- The Parish Council is an advisory body and does not take the final decision. In many cases the Parish Council may well sympathise with your views but the final decision does not always follow their recommendations.
- The application then goes back to ERYC for a decision. If the application is then referred to the Western Planning Committee for consideration, a member of the public or the Parish Council may request to speak at the committee meeting.
- An appeal against a ERYC decision can be made to the Planning Inspectorate at Bristol who will give a final decision. This can only be challenged in the High Court.
