Good news – carriageway improvements on Mill Lane / West Ella Road roundabout

As part of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s £18 million capital programme of planned works, carriageway improvements are scheduled to take place at the West Ella Road/Mill Lane roundabout.

The work will consist of drainage improvements and resurfacing the existing roundabout with replacement of damaged kerbing.

The works are due to commence 10 February 2026 for up to
9 days (weather permitting) and are scheduled as follows:

  • 10 February to 13 February – 4 way temporary traffic lights to undertake drainage works with working hours 09:30 – 15:15.
  • 16 February to 20 February – a temporary road closure (24hr) will be in place to undertake the resurfacing works. The working hours will be from 9:00 to 17:00 (Mon-Fri).

To ensure the safety of the works, a temporary road closure will be implemented during the working dates only with a diversion via A164 – Tranby Lane & return. While the carriageway will remain closed to through traffic, access for residents, postal and emergency services will be maintained.

While every effort will be made to maintain vehicular access during the working hours to properties within the works extents, there may be occasional delays due to the nature of the construction works.

The work will be carried out by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s in-house highway maintenance team.
